The boss also wanted to know if we could just keep adding to the tape until it filled up. One tape, a few days of backup! "Why do I have to buy all these &*@^^*$ tapes?"
The solution to offsite storage? Rotate weekly tapes among managers at different locations since they were in town weekly for a staff meeting. I told them if they were in an accident and the tape was on one side of the road and their arm on the other side, they better go get the tape first...
He thought it was a great solution. Same guy who thought Y2K remediation was a bunch of BS.
