Gidday Paul,

We are going form 32 to 64GB Memory,

We are adding 1 x 139 15K spinny

We are going form RAID6 to RAID5

And I have just installed option 42 for HA Journal Performance which I am
downloading PTF's for.

Not much else i can get out of the box I'm thinking ?

Cheers

Don,

You previously were going to double your memory.

How much memory do currently have?
Did you check your current page faults?
Doubling your memory would be your easiest and quick fix, minimum down
time.
I would try this first and measure the improvement.

Thanks Rob,

Yes journalling is active and used quite heavily after some investigation.

I have downloaded option 42 and installed, now just trying to work out
what PTF's I must install.

Unfortunately I have recently deleted the image catalogues for the latest
collection of PTF's.

Thanks for the tip.

Don,

Since Larry said this:
<snip>
Performance improvement is there yes as you also remove some reads along
with the extra writes but won't rock your world.
</snip>
I thought I would ask: Are you doing journalling? If so, are you using
5770SS1 42 5117 HA Journal Performance
If not, then I would HIGHLY recommend it.

You mentioned month end. This is exactly why we were hurting also. We
tried moving from spinning disks to SSD's and really did not get the bang
for the buck.
Everything here is journaled as a requirement of our HA software.
Adding option 42 was a serious game changer.

Try a 70 day try-and-buy. Put it on the weekend before your next month
end. Along with the latest PTFs (always a good idea when adding new
options). 70 days should get you through two, possibly 3, month ends.
Hence the reason to not install it too early.
He who signs the checks couldn't wait to sign that check after our lack of

improvement with SSD's.

Downtime due to month end processing was our biggest outage. Saves,
upgrades, etc were easily handled with out HA software.
