By not using IBM i credentials, you're admittedly giving up a lot of IBM i
functionality. Many commands prompt for user in their parameters, or
display user in their listings, allow users to "own" objects, allow IBM i
to authenticate users and groups against object authorities, etc. Many
system APIs provide a parameter for User ID.
User-based licensing gives people a license to products like ACS, and
Navigator, and other interfaces that require it.
