I find the whole scan process a poorly designed process. I understand it needs to be generic as possible so that not much needs to be changed at install time. I took offense at the hardware scan install, it tried to schedule 48 different jobs that would run every 1/2 hour. IMHO that is just lazy.

I agree about the IFS scan process. I had a scan on a dev system that took more than 24 hours(lots of source files and ppm objects) I pretty much excluded all libraries save for Q* and our CDC install lib.

Yes, and hardware scans are normally painless, but for the software scans ( assuming you don't have any software products living solely in the "root" filesystem we try to exclude as much of the IFS as we can. Otherwise those scans may run for quite some time.

Another thing ( private opinion ) I wonder why they are catching ipaddresses, domain names etc in the scan? Purpose? Device types for disk? Why?
