Sounds like the interactive subsystem does not have a workstation entry for
that device name or type?

Subject: Telnet just sits there -- any ideas why?

We've just, in theory, been given Telnet access to a new customer's box.

But whether we connect with a TN5250e emulator, or a generic Telnet client
on the desktop, or from one of our AS/400s' own Telnet clients, it just sits
there indefinitely, neither presenting a sign-on screen, nor timing out
without connecting, nor disconnecting at the first keystroke.

Now, if I set one of our boxes to QAUTOCFG=0 and QAUTOVRT=0, and get rid of
the autoconfigured sessions, it connects and immediately disconnects, which
is quite different from what I'm seeing on what is purportedly the customer
box.

Anybody have any insights? Is there some combination of system values that
would cause this? Or are we connecting, despite what we've been told, to a
bit-bucket somewhere?
