You ought to be able to save your .hod file.
Configure you emulation session as you like and then save it to a location
where you can run it from (like you desktop).
Then when you want to start up your session again just double click on your
.hod file.
You will also want to set your file associations on your pc for ACS.
To do this start the main ACS program. Under Tools>File Associations
click/check the file extensions that you want mapped to ACS and click OK.
Now when you click on your .hod file the emulator will start and all of your
saved configuration preferences will be restored.

It's on a windows server. It's where our Documents drive gets mapped so
it's always backed up.
Do most install on their C drive?

Where does the ACS package live? If on the IFS, can you try another install
location?

I recently was issued a new laptop with ACS installed. When it comes to
emulators I'm just a user but I'm one of the first ACS installs here
and our help desk hasn't been much help yet.
We're on v7r3 and ACS 1.1.7.2
Slow startup - about 45 seconds for the first emulator to get to the login
screen. Much quicker with subsequent - as quick as 10 seconds. Is this
typical? What might be slowing it down so much?
