If it helps, I wrote some UDTFs that return the directory contents. Then you don't have to create a temp file, you can just join to the filename in the UDTF.

Though, I wonder if SQL is the right tool here to begin with? But, maybe it is... depending on what you're doing.

There will be about 200 partial filenames, and the folder contains about 80k files. This will be a recurring operation.
