If you are serious about drive destruction find a service that does that. Some bring various shredders to your building shred the entire thing on site.

Other companies offer services where they bend them in an arbor press or piece them with multiple rods

Some drives have platters that will shatter so put the drive on a solid surface and strike it on the cover with a 2 or 3 lb hammer, HARD. If the drive sounds like a kids rattle now, it's toast.

And of course there is always the ever enjoyable gun range. Line 'em up and make with the mayhem!! (Hint: a 0.22 isn't sufficient for this task.)

Honestly though if you've ended RAID, re-installed the LIC and made even one pass over the drives with 'initialize and format' they are done. While in theory (and so far as I know it's ONLY theory thus far) you could get data back from the drives the cost to get any small amount is so high that it would be far simply to just figure out a way to get hands on a backup tape!!!

Hi All,

We upgraded to a Power 8 in August and want to kill the i5.

What is the best way to init the drives?

20 drives, (60gb and 30gb)
The owner also wants to crack open the drive cases to make sure they are unrecoverable.

Also, anyone know of where to sell 2 external LTO3 tape drives, if sellable.
