Thanks to everyone. So far the system has not needed a console because it's
just sitting waiting for a request for data; i.e., the company folded almost
seven years ago, but regulatory requirements mean that we *may* have to pull
data. So far that hasn't happened.
Although I am a little puzzled because a couple of years ago the hosting
company had to replace a failed disk and did a Go Save #21. Personally I'm
not good enough to do a Save-The-World without a console. I did check SST,
and the system is configured for a twinax; we did have a LAN console when
the company was operating.
I did forget about flushing the batteries. The system is a model 520 Power
5 running V5R4. Obviously no need to upgrade it, but I do have to CDs for
7.1 sitting in my work room here at home. .-)

In that system if the card is pulled and the power is on it will fry the
planar board and possibly the RAID card as well.
But the important part is Whey would you NOT have a console available to the
system?? I never understood that logic and have billed customers thousands
of dollars caused by them being silly enough to not keep a console
available.
