Technically, I'm able to do the upgrade. But you're dead on right about chasing
down all the info - it's scattered everywhere and easily missed. I do maybe one
upgrade every few years (ours and customers) and have never had a problem
because I try to get all the pieces in place beforehand.

Just trying to get all the pieces.

Larry,
I've wondered that on not just him but I'm trying to work with these

It doesn't help that IBM makes you chase through 27 links to get to any
piece of documentation.

Please don't take this the wrong way but if you have to ask that
question are you truly prepared and sufficiently skilled to do the
upgrade?

So as not to look like I'm ducking the question, GO LICPGM option 5, 9th
item down. But that won't work without the PTFs.

The required PTFs are available at this nice concise IBM Link:

Ok, so we're good on our drives (and I WON'T turn off raid, didn't want

to
anyway).

So... how do I allocate the load source space?

And is there a list of the required PTFs I need to have installed before

getting
started on the upgrade?  I found a copied a some pages from the IBM help

site,
looking for guidance from those of you who've done it.

Thanks,

No. And PLEASE do not stop RAID!

It does NOT matter what WRKDSKSTS shows for the size of the drive. The
433C is a 139 GB Drive so it qualifies. A 433B is a 70GB Drive and

would
also qualify even if WRKDSKSTS shows it at 46.6GB which is what you
would see with three 70GB drives in a RAID set.

Remember for Physical Drives the reason for the change to 70GB or

bigger
was because only systems with 70GB drives or bigger could run i 7.2

anyway!
