I have customers still running V4, I feel like I'm in a time capsule when I
work on them.

The beauty of this system is it's reliability. It also turns into a curse
for some.

Now that the very low cost system is out I'm reproaching those customers
since that box will fit them nicely. The problem becomes OEM software that
is out of support (completely) or the vendor is literally gone.

Subject: Older stuff was: v6r1 PTFs to get TLS v1.1?

<snip>
Yes, to be more specific, some of these are "used" machines. Happens a lot.
I still get customers who just got a used V5Rx machine asking if our
software works on it. It does, but only as long as my 515 is working. :)
</snip>

I'm always floored by this. Typically I picture people running older
versions of the OS (especially versions as old as V5) as people whose
checkbook has been sealed, encased in concrete, placed in a vault and buried
in a tomb as far as spending on applications for it.
I think I've heard stories from TL Ashford that they sometimes get requests
for their software on machines even older.
