I generally use something like this:
Update file1
Set attr1 = 'something'
Where Exists (Select 1 from otherfile where file2key= file1.keyname)

Can an "update" statement be done on one file, when conditions are met on a related 2nd file?
Personally, I wouldn't even attempt to do that with SQL; I'd just write an RPG Cycle program to do it.
