One other note. If your command parameter is supposed to have quotes
around it as well (for example a name for use in sending an email)
that does get tricky, but not too bad.

Say name contains O'Gara. You'll want to change it to O''Gara (two
single quotes replace the 1 single quote) and when you build your
command:

cmd = 'SNDMSG TONAME(''' + %trim(name) + ''')';

Gets messy, but you'll figure it out with debug I'm sure.

Subject: Embedded apostrophe in command parameters
Sent by: "MIDRANGE-L" <midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

I have an RPG program calling QCMDEXC with an embedded apostrophe in a
command parameter. And QCMDEXC doesn't like the embedded apostrophe.

And if I call the same command, with the same parameter, from a command
line, I have the same problem. I've tried escaping the apostrophe RPG
style by doubling it, and I've tried escaping it *nix/C style, by
prepending a backslash.

Is there a way to get the command processor to accept an embedded
apostrophe within a parampeter?
