Re: How to ground an IBM 36U rack?

The holes in the back at the bottom are compatible for attaching a rear
tip plate.
This led me to try something. The holes at the rear top, by the "36" on
both left and right, use the same bolt as the tip plate. That at least
allowed me to try a bolt and find one which fits so I can run to the
hardware store and say "i need some of these".

After I looked around that data center I think I am the only one who ever
installed the tip plates. I did have to scoot the rack a little to ensure
that I blocked no air holes in the floor for the uprising cold air.
I don't see any point to the rear tip plates as the equipment all slides
out the front and rear tipping is probably less likely than side tippage.
I suppose if you were going to bore some hole through the tip plates and
bolt the rear tip plate to the floor that might have some benefit. I
think the data center would adjust the retinal scanner from "scan" to
"fry" if I tried that though.
