Been a long time since I've used Lan Console, either flavor.
I would think that I would take the leap, jump to ACS. Based on the fact
that you will have to when you upgrade your OS.
You could document your experience to the nth degree and post it to the
Midrange wiki as I'm sure you won't be the last.

I love console take over. Basically picture this: You're running some
horrendous process like a RCLSTG or a full system save used to be. And
your console session drops. You reconnect to find out your job abended.
When a RCLSTG ran for 11 hours this killed us. Now you configure Console
Take Over and you can reconnect and get right back in the middle of that.
Limitations are: Console has to be the same attributes. For example, you
can't take over a 24x80 with a 27x132 display. I think you're noticing
that.
