Jeff,

I don't have access to a console anymore at my new position...

But trying changing from 27x132 to 24x80 (or maybe vice versa)...

V7R1, LAN console.

Back on 9/28/16, Charles Wilt posted the following to connect to the
console via ACS:

"For IBM i systems that already have a LAN console configuration and are
already in your network infrastructure, the following steps may be used to
find existing console configurations:

1. Start IBM i Access Client Solutions on your PC.
2. On the main panel, click System Configurations.
3. From System Configurations, click the Locate Console... button.
4. On the IBM i Locator panel, update the Near field to an IP address in
the range you want to search.
5. Click the Search button to find LAN consoles in the specified range.
6. Click the displayed IP address to select it, then click on the
Console button to connect a 5250 console.
7. A panel will appear asking for Service Tools credentials.
8. Upon entering valid credentials, a 5250 console will be displayed."

When I do the above, I get a 5250 session which says this:

This terminal type 3477 does not match the existing connected session.

Is this telling me the console I have defined for use in IBM i Access for
Windows is not usable here? It's defined as a "3179" and it needs to be a
"3477"? (Those are old dumb terminal numbers, right?)

Is there a way to have the console work in either IBM i Access for Windows
or ACS? The console was set up for me many years ago by IBM so I'm not an
expert in this by any means. Thanks.
