As I said - I could do it this way but I do not feel that trusting my entire backup process to an unattended PC is a good idea. Maybe you work out of your office all the time - but I don't. And when I'm not here there is nobody else that could deal with any problems. So I would need to also set up remote management of that machine and even then it wouldn't be 100% 'cos if the internet went down ... etc. etc. Backup is supposed to protect me from failures - not provide another failure point.

I have a simple - effective solution. All I wanna do is replicate that on another site. No extra hardware, no extra software, no extra failure points. If I wanted to do this much "extra stuff" I'd use Windows or Linux and not IBM i!

Anyway - looks like S3 will do the job and the other file sharing site that was recommended will also work but at a slightly higher price tag.

Still not sure I see the issue. It's literally less work that already been
performed responding to these emails. :)

It could be a Mac instead of PC if that makes you more comfortable. I seem
to remember you're an apple guy.

Either way, good luck finding a solution that meets your needs.

Oh - that's what he meant.

Stull more work than I want and since the PC system would be unattended a
lot of the time ...

So far Amazon S3 and one of the alternative FTP sites are looking to be
the best bet.

Exactly what I suggested yesterday, Jon.

Install an FTP server on a PC (free - filezilla).
Install Google Drive (free)
FTP files to PC into the Google Drive location and they're automatically
synced to the cloud.

The only tricky part may be if you have a dynamic IP on the network you
have your PC FTP server on (like most consumer based systems). In that
case you could use a service like DynDNS to make sure DNS stays up to
date
if your IP changes. That is $60 a year.
