Hi Buck,

I'm not aware of problems with root sharing, but there is an issue with
Netserver SMB protocol. When upgrading to 7.3 the SMB protocol is set to an
higher level which can cause problems with IFS access from windows clients.
The 7.3 memo to users does mention it but it is vague there.

It is documented here:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1021348 NetServer
support of SMB2 at V7R3 and support for Change Notify

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1017682 Change
Notification APIs Not Supported by IBM i NetServer

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1019248 Integrated File
System and IBM i NetServer Do Not Provide Support for the Change
Notification APIs, used by Microsoft Active Directory
Maybe not exactly what you were looking after, but you never know...

Best regards,
-Arco

I have a maintenance availability window in December, and I'm trying to
work out whether to recommend installing the latest 7.2 TR or to move to
7.3. I've read the Memo To Users, and it all looks fine. I have a
vague tickle about the IFS, but I don't see anything in the Memo about it.

Is there some concern about a system where root is shared moving from
7.2 to 7.3? More to the point, is there some documentation I can read
about this?
