Don't forget about CHGHTTPA and the AutoStart parameter.

Specifies whether to automatically start the HTTP server
when TCP/IP is started by the STRTCP command. When HTTP
is started by the STRTCPSVR command, the AUTOSTART
parameter is ignored and the HTTP server is started
regardless of the value of this parameter. If STRTCPSVR
*HTTP is specified, and the HTTP server is already
running, then the start request is denied.

So, I always set this to *NO for this reason. Seems counter intuitive. I
would say this default value should be use if and only if there is no
Autostart setting in the instance file.

So STRTCP is looking at the Autostart settings, and only starting those

STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ALL) is starting all instances, ignoring
the AutostartN.

No, I did not issue ENDTCP.
I used no options on my STRTCP.
I called STRTCP to start the http servers because Paul Steinmetz asked for
a way to just start the autostart http servers and I could find no other
way.

Rob,

1) Did you end TCP?
2) On your STRTCP, what were your options?

I'm a bit confused why your calling STRTCP to start QHTTPSVR.
