I followed the directions and opened the IP and set the firewall settings.
I'm getting a message which reminds me unfortunately of being unable to
connect to the *ADMIN Server

Microsoft Edge simply says it can't connect.

Chrome says error SSL or cipher mismatch.

I've been reading but can't find anything about what protocols I need to
enable/disable on the HMC

I did notice that the link was for HMC 7 and above. It is a whole
different animal on 6 and earlier. Hopefully the link applies.

Can you even ping the hmc? Some people put their hmc on a private lan.
Which is kind of like loading remote connectivity to your pc but removing
the lan cable and disabling the wireless.
I'm willing to differ on whether or not the FSP on the rack itself should
be on a private lan but not the hmc. Well, maybe two lan connections to
the hmc. One for the intranet and one for a private lan to just the FSP.
Apparently there's some huge security hole on the FSP (not the hmc) or I
can't understand why so many people insist it be on it's own private lan.

Thank you. I sent this link to the person who is helping me. Hopefully

You have to make sure the HMC is enabled for remote connectivity.
Otherwise it won't connect even putting in the correct IP address. Once
that hurdle is over, the user that you are signing into, also has to
have
permission to connect remotely.

Subject: Access to HMC

I'm working with a company that had their hardwarei setup by a vendor.

We have one system i partition that won't IPL. No one knows how to get
to
the console or anything.

The HMC that is attached to the server works but the person on site
doesn't know how to use it. There is no phone or cell service in the
computer room! I thought I know the IP Address of the HMC, and I know
user/password. I tried HMC probe but that said couldn't connect.

I would like to be able to access the HMC from a PC on the network. Any
tips would be appreciated. Sorry if I used the wrong names

thanks, Art
