I'm the culprit.

Yes if you have an omnifind install media you can install it, PTF it and the
*ADMIN server will automatically start using it, speeding it up by quite a
bit. Odds are very strong there will not be an IPL required.

If using the menu option to install it, then you'll have to put a "1" and
5733OMF, and *BASE in the line.

RSTLICPGM LICPGM(5733OMF) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(MYLIB/MYSAVF) will do it
too.....

You don't have to do anything. Now if you want to start using it in your
software then you'll have to use the APIs etc.

Subject: Omnifind 57xx-OMF

At a seminar last week, we were told that if we would install Omnifind, it
would, in general, speed up the system. It was from one of our own right
here on the list. But I won't mention names, I'll let him come forward if
he wants.

I had to get out the install CDs (V7R1) to install something else and
decided now was the time if I'm going to do it.

Questions:

Is this right? Just install it, get PTFs, and then stand back? Or does one
have to "do something?"

Also, when I do the Install Licensed Programs option, I see no Omnifind
listed. Do I need to get it from elsewhere?

Thanks.
