Paul,

All true, but keep in mind if you apply PTFs to Java, any task using the
JVM must be stopped while the PTFs are going on. For many that's the same
as shutting down the system. Same with the BIND issues although
admittedly that's less of a problem to stop/start DNS.

Paul is correct the notifications do lag a small bit, but keep in mind
most folks have limited windows to apply PTFs (which still requires an IPL
way too often) so I wonder if the daily notifications is really all that
important, since they can only IPL once a month, or at most once a week. I
have customers that can only IPL twice a year.

I find the daily ones to be more than sufficient. If we are working on a
specific problem, then searching the PSPs is worth the time. In the end
it's about allocation of resources and the daily notifications is usually
sufficient.

I use the same link.

IBM has a service, called IBM My Notifications.
Emails are sent daily.
You need to initially select what you want to be notified for.
It is also by i5/OS release level.

Manage your My notifications subscriptions, or send questions and
comments.

review PTFs but I'd much prefer to have a notification sent to my

What I would love is if IBM offered a public web service that conveyed
