I've not followed this whole thread, so please forgive me if this has been mentioned already.

Has anyone mentioned recommended PTFs? They often are not included in cumes or group PTFs.

So, is their a subscription one can make to getting notice of these?

Regards
Vern

Well, here's 2 good examples of notifications, received these yesterday.
These stood out because of the subject.
The SI59101 PTF appeared on Feb 4th cover letter.

Now the JV1 PTFs are another story. I'm on V7R1, but because 5761JV1 is V6R1, I missed these because I don't check V6R1 PTFs.
So in this case, the notification gained my attention.

90% of PTFs can be applied immediately, without an IPL, but IBM doesn't recommend this, can cause issues. From past experience, I've had issues applying large amounts of PTFs immediate. However, applying few at a time immediate, never had issues.

Paul is correct the notifications do lag a small bit, but keep in mind most folks have limited windows to apply PTFs (which still requires an IPL way too often) so I wonder if the daily notifications is really all that important, since they can only IPL once a month, or at most once a week. I have customers that can only IPL twice a year.

I find the daily ones to be more than sufficient. If we are working on a specific problem, then searching the PSPs is worth the time. In the end it's about allocation of resources and the daily notifications is usually sufficient.

Checking PTF cover letters by date link is more up to date.

Aaron,

I use the same link.

IBM has a service, called IBM My Notifications.
Emails are sent daily.
You need to initially select what you want to be notified for.
It is also by i5/OS release level.

Manage your My notifications subscriptions, or send questions and
comments.

How do others keep up with knowing when PTFs come out for things they
care about? For example, I now use this link (n1) (thanks Rob) to
review PTFs but I'd much prefer to have a notification sent to my
inbox whenever PTFs for 5733OPS, 5770SS1 opt 33, 5733SC1 are released.

n1 - http://www-912.ibm.com/a_dir/as4ptf.nsf/WWWPTFBYDATE?OpenView

What I would love is if IBM offered a public web service that conveyed
PTFs. Then I could do an If-This-Then-That (ifttt.com). Is such an
IBM web service available?

Thanks,
