Rob,

The setup was a little tough at first.
Each LPAR has 3 ips, 2 external, 1 internal.
For the 2 external, the one goes through a 2nd firewall which we are gradually migrating all of the 1st one to.

For the internal, used for any traffic between LPARS, uses VLAN across backplane..
BRMS, SAVRST***, STRPASTHR, SNDNETSPLF.

I hear you Larry. And then 6 months down the road they will want to move that lpar to another box and all this will change.
For a long time (a year or two maybe) our two boxes were in the same room.
Not exactly DR but kinda/sorta HA. We could do PTF's and whatnot after the switch. And do backups off of the Mimix machine.

Any time we thought about using internal networks (like between a DB2 and a Domino lpar) all this HA switching came to mind. It really gets hairy jumping from internal to external.

So you're saying it does not leave the box?

If that's true then you must NOT use IP addresses that are in any IP
networks outside the box or you risk routing issues.

Secondly if this is HA traffic and it's inside the same box, um, that
doesn't exactly hit the mark for HA. Just sayin.....

When setting up the virtual Ethernet between IBM I LPARs, is it best
