If you're on V5R4, look into using IBM Infoprint Server to convert to PDF - 5722IP1
You can write your own exits for emailing or capturing the PDF documents.

I remember a similar issue with ACOM, and we discovered a problem with a
Group PTF for V6R1 and CPYSPLF command (and API).
Maybe it's something similar.
