Yes, that would be ideal, but I don't live there, alas.

Failing that you take that Tape drive out of the "cones of silence" subnet
and put it where you can get to it from any browser within your company
(or vpn).

I can already do that, but it's less convenient than having it right
there, 8 inches beneath the physical tape drive.

Perhaps you are saying that there is no PC near the tape drive. There is
an HMC near it though. Hmm. Does a browser on your mobile device work?

The network people don't have a route from a wifi router to the machine
room. On purpose.

The funny thing is that there WAS a browser running on that HMC since
August and now I can't work out how that situation came to be.
