Is it possible to use QNTC with the new version of Windows Server 2012

I have no idea, but good luck.

Based on a little research, it appears that only Samba versions later than
3.6 will work with MS Server 2012. Since I am *not* a C-programmer . . .

Is the plan to compile Samba in PASE? You don't have to be a C programmer
to try that, and report any errors you get to the Samba list, and whoever
ported Samba to the IBM i. Plenty of unix admins don't know C, but they
compile C code all the time. Don't give up on this avenue yet.

If you weren't moving off the IBMi I'd suggest looking long term at sftp
because Microsoft is integrating openssh into windows for PowerShell. I'd
expect sftp to come with that.
