The Personal Communications 5250 emulator (which is what was delivered with
the V7R1 iSeries Access Client) has been out of support for at least 2 years
or longer, therefore there is no excuse for an ISV to not have a new
solution available. The ISVs also knew about the end of support for
Personal Communications for at least a year or more before that.
No excuse for that falderal.

Yes, ISV support for iACS is a factor. Being platform-independent, iACS
doesn't include the DLL's to interface into PC5250 like i Access for Windows
includes.

<snip>
i Access Client Solutions is not supported by some ISV's, </snip> Really?
This is a factor? One really has to care about what version of
5250 emulation they support? Do they actually list stuff like:
We support only the following 5250 emulation clients:
- IBM i Access for Windows
- after starting that up, telnet from (such and such version) of IBM i to
(such and such version) of IBM i
- Mochasoft
The following are known unacceptable 5250 emulation clients:
- DOS telnet
All others are at your own peril and will be unsupported and we will not
allocate any resources to supporting anything less than 20 years old (after
all, you've seen our code, haven't you?).
