The number at the end (four digits) are really hex numbers so while there is
a limit, practically it's not a problem.

The system does reuse device descriptions when it can. Why delete the
devices and make the system work so hard to recreate them? There's very
little value to that unless there is a software issue with the device name.
Older BPCS versions used to rely on the device name for instance.

Even though I didn't hit the max, is there possibly a naming issue?.
No errors on iSeries side.
