Ted,
I CPYSPLF the restore joblog to PF, then wrote a RLPLE program to table and count all the various messages.
Result was a one page summary of the restore.
I did this to insure that I didn't miss a critical restore issue.
After identifying the critical errors, the I scanned the joblog for the message in question, for complete details of the error(s)
Below is sample from my Restore 21, which was a migration.

Huh. I though I had read somewhere that GO RESTORE option-21 was
modified to include a Defer Identifier to handle [many of] those
issues; beyond just for the BRMS equivalent, similarly to enable the
restore to complete with only one pass of the media. But now, looking
at a doc link showing what the option-21 performs, there is no mention
of either Defer Identifier (DFRID) or Restore Deferred Objects
(RSTDFROBJ) being performed.? I wonder if that doc was not updated,
or if I mis-remember about a change having been made to that feature.?
You are correct that with i 6.1 the DEFER feature was added and it seems better in 7.1. It will handle the cross library logical stuff quite well. Originally it was stated that this support required that the save originate from i 6.1 or newer but it seems recently that I have in fact restored a full save from an i 5.4 system to an i 7.1 system and the DEFER worked as desired. It makes sense to me that this SHOULD work as it's a 'look back' function rather than a 'look ahead' the latter of course would require additional stuff on the media.
I do not believe that the DEFER function handles journals that are out of sequence however, just SQL and logical files.
