The apply instructions for *SERVICE say to go to the PTF menu and use
option 8. Is using the INSPTF with *DLYALL the same thing? If so, I
prefer that method (the INSPTF command) because I can do that anytime, then
just fire off the IPL from home when I want.

Thanks.

Depends on how many IPLs you have to do,

But it can take awhile.
I loaded it to image catalogs. The
INSPTF LICPGM((*ALL)) DEV(OPTVRT01) INSTYP(*DLYALL)
took about 15 minutes. IPL will be done later.
In fact I just did an IPL but it's doing a dedicated full system save,
which should take an hour (small lpar). After that I might be able to
glean how long that IPL took.

All,

The instructions for the latest cume PTF package for i 7.1 (level 14143)
says it takes 3-5 hours. Wow. I realize it will vary by hardware, but is
that accurate?

System i 520, will be loading from *SERVICE.

Thanks.
