There are two controllers. A 5709 which is the embedded controller in the CEC and a 2780 that controls the disk that are in an 0595 (presumably an 0595 or 5095). BTW: Back up performance on that 3581 off the 0595 ( TAPMLB02 ) must be not so good since it's on the same buss and controlled by the same IOP as the DASD controller. Your using TAPMLB01 for back ups?

I don't remember of hand if the 5709/2780 will support a hot spare in RAID-5, I am researching that. All the newer SAS controllers do, and I think the 2780 might but I want to be sure.
