That's new hardware, correct? That would be acceptable.

They are going to confirm they kept their software maintenance current
tomorrow and then we will order 6.1 and/or 7.1. Then we can worry about
hardware.

Jack,

I'm not sure if still available, but there was a 520 MES upgrade option to a
720, instead of buying a new system.
When doing a MES upgrade, you keep your same serial number, reducing both
hardware and software upgrade costs.

So I can see upgrading that system to 7.1 and then moving to the new
hardware.

In the old days, you could order a new system with new software using your
license and since it's only a few users and printers I would move the
software and users to the new system.

Where can I buy a new system lol?

The 520's can run 7.1 and it is much easier to move to a new system on the
same OS. The new 720 will run 6.1 and 7.1

Yes you can purchase a new system and software. Since it is such a small
shop it may not be difficult to recreate the users and security and It could
be a good time to tighten security. Make sure you get quotes for upgrading
the 3rd party software.

I have a customer that has a 520. The owner of the company likes to buy a
new system every 5 or so years. They are a little late but they came to me
to get them quotes.

I don't even know where to start. It's a small company with 10 green
screen users so I'm sure the lowest capacity new system would be plenty.
They run a LANSA website, some EDI, and Townsends secure FTP product.

I asked another customers vendor and he said "just upgrade that system to
7.1".

Is it not possible to buy a new system and upgrade the software anymore J
