Jon:
And now that I read Joe's article that Chuck brought up, I can see why
it was lapsed. AAS vs PPA. So. If I have to blame someone besides
myself, I'll pick the business partner for the issue.

If you have software maintenance it never "lapses".

No version has been free since (I think V7 of WDSC) - it all changed at V6
of IBM i. If you have 8.5 then somebody paid for it at some time and
apparently didn't get the perpetual license and support.

There has been extensive discussion on the various pricing options for V9
recently on the WDSC-L list. Including the option to trade in seats of
PDM/SEU etc.

We did the same thing about a month ago. We waded through the Rational
people as well as IBM and
found out that the new RDI 9.0 is not free and our current 8.5 lapsed.
If
you don't stay on top of your
current "contract" prices have gone up and are over 900 per seat but are

cheaper (550 ?) if you are
current. Really don't have a good case to sell management when not much

has been improved in
9.0.

What is the latest "name" and approx per seat price of RDI or whatever
called now?
I just spent 20 minutes on IBM site and am more confused than when I
started.
Do not want to chat or talk to a Partner...(I'm not authorized to speak
for the corp).
I need info to make a case to the people above.

per seat clients for usual rpg, rpgle, dds, cl
per seat clients for building web service programs on i (SOA
construction?)
Have not made it to Common in several years so my terminology is
outdated.

The confusion is google brings up old and new pages. Shouldn't have to
register to find a base price.
Currently have the Win XP version of WDSC and others using green screen
SEU.
