We're looking at three new power 7's.

- Replace 9117-MMA.
. DMZ lpar. Domino, Quickr, etc.
. Production ERP lpar. Some WAS
. Development lpar
. Linux lpar that is a never used backup for TSM.
. Main Domino lpar. 8 partitions of Domino and WAS based Sametime stuff.

- Replace 8203 E4A. Memory starved. Like, let's shut down ... so we can
startup WAS.
. Mimix replication of Production
. Mimix replication of Development
. Domino clustering replication of everything on main Domino lpar
. Main Linux lpar with active TSM
. Alternative DMZ lpar. Much lighter than main. Just one Domino SMTP
server.

- Replace 9408-M25.
. Third Domino clustering replication of everything (except email
archives) on main Domino lpar. Email and other Domino are so much more
important than production scheduling and other ERP functions that it needs
a third backup. (sense any irony?). Actually Domino clustering is just
so damn easy to set up compared to H/A solutions for DB2 based
applications. (And priced really right!)
. Test lpar. Rarely used. Really rarely. Permission to IPL on a whim at
any time.
. Third DMZ lpar. Much lighter than main. Just one Domino SMTP server.

All backups are performed nightly on 8203-E4A. Other machines only see
tape once a quarter.

Our BP (Sirius) is mulling over the possibilities. Just sent them a very
brief snapshot of performance from yesterday on all lpars. Will probably
use a PURE system to replace 8203 E4A with SAN disk. Mainly because boss
sees that as future wave.
