Your suggestion with the proper CCSID appears to have worked in the
interim, and I will be certain to follow up and modify the process to write
to a *STMF before invoking any transfer mechanism.

I have a listing of the CCSID's supported by System i (from the IBM
Globalization web site) and up until now, have been misinterpreting the
values that needed to be applied. Thank you for the correction.

Your response to this thread demonstrates the educational value of it, and
it has truly enlightened me on the reasons for doing things the way we do.
