The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
As I told you before, install Access for Windows. That'll set up a DSN. You use the DSN with Crystal Reports or you use a "DSN-less" connection string. When you use the DSN, Windows will pop up a wizard for entering the connection parameters. Please look up the documentation and check the archives. Folks have been using Crystal Reports to access IBMi data for at least 10 years, maybe as much as 20 years. The process is straightforward and well-documented. As I recall, the first instructions came from Crystal. Now that Microsoft owns Crystal Reports and also SQL Server, Microsoft doesn't pay as much attention to IBMi or zOS access.

Subject: Connection string to db2 for i
The thing I need now is how to connect to the as/400 from the Visual Studio. In C# we refer to as 'Connection String'. This also can connect to a stored procedure or a table or view.
I am in touch with IBM via a "PMR" but they have not provided this info.
For other databases like SQL Server, this information is readily available.
Has no one ever done this between Crystal Reports and AS/400?
