Thanks Everyone as Usual, lot of good info here. I like Rob's solution.

Whether or not to omit #MXJRN is a decision your shop should make.

I don't want to scare anyone away from journalling. It's great! You just
may not want to go to the extreme that we do. People here are absolutely
nuts about journalling, retain full detail, and retain it for 77 days.
Yes, it is by far our biggest library. Like 4 to 10 times the size of our

A coworker and I went to COMMON and pulled this up during a Larry Youngren
session about journalling. We tried some tips of his later in our hotel
room but it just wasn't working for us.

Kirk,

Excluding libraries from *ALLUSR is easy, but it can also cause issues if
you are not careful. The quickest option is to use backup policy omits
from *ALLUSR but that will affect any control group that references
*ALLUSR. While that might be the intended result, I would guess that if
someone does a BRMS full system save they want every library that belongs
to *ALLUSR without having to worry with explicitly configuring the omitted
libraries. The other option is to use BRMS Client Omits which can only be
configured in iSeries Navigator. These are much more flexible and only
affect the control group said omit definition belongs too. Word of
caution.....if you activate BRMS Client Omits for a control group it will
cause the control group logic to bypass any backup policy omits for items
in that control group (if applicable). In other words, for a single
control group you can do OMITS with option 1 or option2, but not both
IIRC. I would recommend the Client Omit option based on your description.

Subject: Question on BRMS Backups

I have a control group that includes *ALLUSR. this works pretty well but I
want to Exclude a couple libraries but keep the *ALLUSR so new libs are
automagically added.

Can this be done and if what is the best way?

Everyone Enjoy the long weekend if you can
