We routinely use an omit list to omit certain libraries. When we do our
full system save we do it this way
STRBKUBRM ... OMITS(*IGNORE)
and that tells it to ignore any omit lists.

WRKPCYBRM *BKU
2. Work with items to omit from backup
Type Backup item
*ALLUSR #MXJRN
*ALLUSR QMPGDATA
*ALLUSR QPFRDATA

Whether or not to omit #MXJRN is a decision your shop should make.

I don't want to scare anyone away from journalling. It's great! You just
may not want to go to the extreme that we do. People here are absolutely
nuts about journalling, retain full detail, and retain it for 77 days.

A coworker and I went to COMMON and pulled this up during a Larry Youngren
session about journalling. We tried some tips of his later in our hotel
room but it just wasn't working for us.
