There was indeed a recent thread started by Rob, revealing\warning of
some INSPTF work causing PTFs to be applied counter to the apparent
specifications; i.e. *DLYALL specified, which seemingly should not have
had those PTFs applied.
Subject: PTF apply, DLYALL, brms ralphed.

An apparent exception may be in effect for the /Delay All/
specification to not defer all application activity to the IPL, as I had
alluded in a reply to that thread; i.e. "special handling PTFs":

Plus perhaps also something worthwhile, in another thread:
Subject: System applied unloaded PTFs
http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/201303/threads.html#00291
Those /unloaded/ PTFs [those not-yet loaded] were downloaded into
tracking by *SERVICE [per ordering via SNDPTFORD]. And although I have
not yet replied to that thread, I will do so soon, alluding the
described scenario may have been the effect of the following "What's new
for IBM i 7.1" under the heading "What's new as of March 2011", with
regard to "Maintaining and managing IBM i and related software" [the
emphasis in the quoted text being mine]:

"On the next normal IPL, *another* Install PTF (INSPTF) command is
performed automatically during the PTF processing IPL step in the SCPF
(start control program function) job. The INSPTF command *loads*
*additional PTFs* and sets *all PTFs* for delayed application. Then, a
second IPL of the partition is performed automatically to *apply* *all*
PTFs."

Also, Didn't Rob warn about a BRMS PTF that got applied even thought
it should have waited for IPL and busted the save system until the
next IPL?

Correct BUT beware of the buried land-mine.. You now have PTF activity
ready for your next IPL. *If* that IPL happens when you were not
expecting it, it will be longer due to the PTFs. Depending on your
machine (HEAVILY depending on number of disk arms) it could cost you 10
minutes or over an hour. Just be aware of this when you pull the trigger.

Just want to make sure, If I install PTF (option 8) but set the
IPL to N (no), PTF are loaded now and installed in the next IPL?
