Hi Kurt,

My version is 8.5.1.

Wrt moving the filters. It works, sometimes.
When i click right i get the option to move up or down, but it only works
half.
For example, when i click the one at the buttom i can't move up or down
(expected to move up only).
When i right click the one above i can move up, but not down.

I can live with it. But i expect better.
And there are 100 other "little" things.

But i only use RDP as a gloryfied notepad.

Turbo C in 1982 for 100$ was a much better experience.

But, alas.... at least IBM is working to improve things

The thing that is really hurting my productivity right now is that i can't
simply look into a DDS source without having the cursor stuck every two
seconds. Version 8.5.1 .....
And this behavior is not consistent, many times i don't have this problem.

Another thing is, i'm on windows 7 (didn;t had this problem on XP) is that
sometimes when i start RDP i get an error message saying the the JVM
couldn't start up with an error. The solution is to simple restart windows.
So simply closing and opening RDP again is not a solution because there is
a good chance i have to restart my PC again.

So back to SEU then. great

Sir (haven't caught your name),

I have many frustrations with RDP. You are not alone. In 8.5.1 I am
actually suffering some of the issues you mention (though I never suffered
them in 8.0.3). I'm losing track of versions, is there an 8.1? Anyway, I
have numerous content assist PMRs (some converted to RFEs due to things
being designated as working-as-designed) and also one about a memory leak
(which I know others are experiencing as well). I simply watch my heap
storage and when it gets high (1gb) I restart RDP.

In regard to moving filters, I can do it. I don't recall not being able
to on previous versions. If you right click a filter, you get a Move Up
and Move Down option in the popup menu. You can only move one position at
a time, so instead of moving one filter down over and over, you can select
a group of filters to move once.

Hope that helps,
Kurt

You are both right.

This is not the place.

But i couldn't resist.
Maybe i hoped for other developers that have the same frustrations with
RDP, but maybe i am then only one then.

Anyway, to be honest, i don't think it will help much.
Opening a PMR - to IBM / Rational - about me not being able to move
up/down an object filter?

It will cost me time, and with no results.
I'm sure these kinds of little problems are already reported 1000s of
times.

Call my cynical

I strongly agree with Rob, if you have a problem with RDP, open a PMR
(for each specific problem). I suppose if you're going to open PMRs,
you may want to be on the latest version, because I'm sure the first
thing they'll tell you is to upgrade. I have opened many PMRs in
regard to RDP. In fact, anytime I run across something that doesn't
work right, I report it.
It's good for me and it's good for IBM and it's good for the community.
There is also a community-based RFE (request for enhancement) page
that IBM uses to gauge the community's needs.

Can you upgrade to the latest version of RDP? Perhaps some of those
issues are fixed.

If you have this paid for, what happened when you opened a PMR with
IBM and reported these issues?

What kind of PC are you running this on? In "System" mine says
Processor: Intel Core i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
RAM: 16.0GB (15.9 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit Operating system
Windows 7 Professional SP1

Please avoid burying obscenities in your text. There are many
recipients who might be able to help you but their corporate email
systems may block your message.

You may want to upgrade and then bring your concerns to the WDSC list
hosted by this site. (and maybe even open a pmr or two).

ps: IBM's quality is better than the prose of your email.
