The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
As part of my SVN modernization evening project I am going to probably create a new component that can function similar to Remote Systems Explorer to front end RDP editing, but would like to improve on the overall user experience.
I welcome any input on usability features you would like to see in RSE that isn't there today.
Some examples I can think of:
-Browsing source in table view only supports one view at a time today. Give me ability to open multiple views.
-Let me highlight a source member and quickly specify a destination system to move it to without having to browse and do a bunch of clicking. Today it's faster for me to use my custom PDF options to move source than it is to use RSE for moving members.
-Let me open a PC source member and do a save as or push to i quickly without forcing me to check out an iProject first. This would streamline the process once we flip to SVN/PC First editing. Also let it remember last options used.
I will consider all input as I put together requirements and determine if I really want to build this component.
The goal is to use RDP for the process as much as possible, so this could end up being its own plugin or simple EXE command line options that can be called from RSE/RDP or it might end up being a Windows Explorer-Like interface that lets me work in that UI but easily interface to the i and RDP for editing.
If anyone is going to COMMON this Spring in April I would be happy to arrange for face-to-face discussion on this as well as using SVN with the i as we will be down the road with our initial SVN i deployment.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Richard Schoen
