Is the Remote Console "session key" a permanently saved value, or once all shared sessions are ended does it not matter any more?

This weekend the console session on the HMC in the computer room went away, so I had to restart it. I do this fairly infrequently and I did it this time from memory. We start a shared connection, so that the system operator can run a shared session from his PC outside the computer room.

When I got to the "Enter your session key" I put in something that was *close* to what we normally use, and up came the console.

Of course, on Monday morning the operator could not bring up a console on his PC.

So have I permanently changed the session key? If so, it seems dangerously easy to change.
