IBM 6400 - why the external print server? Is it a parallel cable, not ethernet?
IBM has a native device *IBM6400 for device description.

As an update, and as a thank-you to the contributors, here is what I did.

I used System I Navigator to create the que & dev for our Zebra label
printer and it worked like a charm - didn't know about this feature before,
did it manually in past.

However, when trying to do the same for an IBM 6400 line printer with an
external print server, it continually gives me errors and to see the java
trace - which always seems to be empty. Java trace seems to be a bear to
capture!!

Both of these printers will use the SCS stream.

However, I still have to replace some I/O-Data print 'bricks' that convert
IPDS to HPGL for use with laser printer. To achieve this in a non-twin-ax
world I will print SCS and use Formsprint to manage the bar codes.

So I am moving forward, and appreciate the tips getting our new 720 running.

ad's. Ask them what printers they recommend for printing checks with MICR
characters. We've been doing check printing on lazers for years. All
check printing is done in other buildings or I'd tell you a couple we use.

Only dot matrix I am aware of is one hooked up to our security card reader
on the computer room. Prints one line every time you scan into that room.
