It almost sounds like the SPCN network is hosed on Frank's machine. If it were properly set up the individual components would all start when the host system is powered on as Rob describes. This does not mean the LPARs will all start, only that all the equipment would power up.

Some people do a big no-no on HMC managed ines and configure firmware upgrades to come from the ptf's applied to partition. The problem with that is your firmware can get so aded that your HMC can no longer manage it.
