From the help on ENDOPT:

Specifies the operation that is automatically done on the tape or
optical volume after the save operation ends. If more than one
volume is used, this parameter applies only to the last volume used;
all other volumes are unloaded when the end of the volume is
reached.

So if your tape is full and needs a second tape it doesn't care what you
entered in for ENDOPT. It's going to partially eject it and wait for you
to stick in a second tape and reply to the message on QSYSOPR that you
have done so. This is what is happening, right? You are filling up the
tape and it's needing a second tape? Just want to make sure that's what
you meant by "end of tape option" and not that your save completed, didn't
need any further tapes, and yet ejected the tape.
