Best solution that was suggested is to do a DSPFFD to an outfile and query
that.

I'm having a somewhat hectic week, so I can't really check it but maybe you
could use the QDFRTVFD API, with the QDFFFINF format. It has the following
text for one of the bit positions:

WDFFOPDV If on, optioned DFTVAL keyword is specified
