We recently upgraded from v5r2 to v6r1; QTIMZON wasn't an option on 5-2 and
the time didn't auto-update, thus the need for the roll-our-own DST updating
program. Glad to see that it's really no longer needed.

Since a few releases back the system has automatically done this. You have
to select the right time zone for QTIMZON system value.

Depending on the time zone description in use, the i5/OSR operating system
can automatically adjust the local system time to observe daylight saving
time (DST).

Basically you pick a value from WRKTIMZON to stick in the system value
QTIMZON. Want to know more? RTM.

You can drop that down to 6.1 by changing a couple of characters in that
url.

Does iSeries 6.1 do the spring forward/fall back time adjustments? We've
got a program in place that does that for us, but if the system will do it
for us instead...

No it won't. The system knows.

I have a customer who submits a job to the job queue daily. It has
a wait
built into the job until a specific time of the day so that it runs
in the
middle of the night. They recently changed the start time from 23:30
to
2:30.

So, when the time springs forward, what will happen?
