I miss the days when our reel-to-reel tape drive had a graphic on it that
displayed how much of the tape was processed. "Bad time to take a break,
in just a few minutes we'll have to change tape."

If you use separate volume id's on all your tapes, AND reset this
statistic after use, it's a little helpful
PRTERRLOG TYPE(*VOLSTAT) VOLTYPE(3590)
however, with compression varying based on objects being saved it can be
frustrating. On a 3 volume backup set it's not uncommon to see a large
difference between the first and second tape due to compression
differences between qsys and non qsys stream file stuff.
