I remember the reel to reel on our S/38 and that "sucking" sound when the rubber vacuum tubes would crack. Do not miss that! :-)

What kind of tape drive to you have? We've managed to back up the entire production library and a couple of multiple million record files each month for a year. On our 810 that was a 3581-H23 Tape Unit and LTO1 and now on our Power 7 with the TS2900 Tape Unit and LT04

Although, if you need any of your Doobie Brothers albums dubbed onto 8
track, I have the gear to do it.
Apparently the silent consensus is that I shouldn't worry about how many
save sets I can squeeze onto a given cartridge. Personally I'm inclined
to agree with this but management isn't looking to find ways to increase
the operating budget just now!
